Strident Dissonance
is a side-project of sorts, that surfaced in
October- November, 2008---during the economic crisis, two elections and Halloween.
The frames are constructed in hardwood (maple from a baby
crib); and within are compositions where piano components are suspended in
layers of broken glass.
The title of this numbered series comes from a musical term
that refers to an unstable quality of sound---that which begs to resolve, such
as the diminished seventh chords commonly associated with horror and
suspense.
